Maintenance Tips

For all types of stone, a water-based sealer should be used.
This will prevent stains, moisture absorption, algae or moss growth, cracking, chipping, and will enhance colour and shine.

Indoor - 2-3 coats, every 4-5 years
Outdoor - 5-6 coats, every 2-3 years
Wet areas - 5-6 coats every 2-3 years

Translucent Application

Backlighting is a popular lighting technique used in interior design to add visual interest to different materials, including translucent stones.

Backlighting translucent stones can create an exceptional visual effect that accentuates the stone’s natural patterns, veining, and colours, and give it a unique, ethereal glow. To backlight translucent stones, LED modules, also known as LED panels, are commonly used.These units are placed behind the stone, allowing the light to diffuse through the stone and create an impressive display of colour and texture. The result is a stunning focal point that draws attention to the stone’s beauty, while also creating an ambient, relaxing atmosphere in any interior space.

Backlit translucent stones are commonly used in a wide range of applications, including bars, reception areas, accent walls, and even bathroom vanities, where the effect can be particularly striking when combined with other lighting elements.

Delaco Panels do not sell the lighting for backlighting, these will need to be sourced from a lighting store specialising in backlighting.

How often should I apply sealant to stone surfaces?

The frequency of sealant application depends on the location and exposure to water. For areas frequently exposed to water, we recommend reapplying a sealant every 3-4 years. In other locations, a reapplication every 5-6 years is sufficient. Use a water-based sealer for all types of stone to prevent stains, moisture absorption, algae or moss growth, and to avoid cracking or chipping.

What adhesive can I use?

We recommend T-Rex Floor & Wall adhesive. It is a high-quality, single-component adhesive with excellent bonding strength. Based on SMX Polymer technology, it is chemically neutral and fully elastic.
